Humanitarian Teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

Nov 22, 2025 · H. Maqsood Ahmed
The recent earthquake, Tsunami and nuclear disaster in Japan prompted relief organizations, Japanese and international governments  to start extensive relief efforts to help the affected.  The Muslims, as a community in Japan were no exception to that. They contributed immensely to the relief efforts and till today, they have been helping the affected communities in Tohoku region.
Islam teaches its followers to generously offer humanitarian aid to wheerever the need may arise. Quran stresses the importance of humanitarian efforts in one verse by saying,
“Those who believe and do good works- happiness is decreed for them, and an excellent place of return.” (013:029)
The Japan Muslims Peace Federation (JMPF), an Islamic organization based in Japan,  has been holding annual seminars on Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) for the last three years. The objective of these seminars is to introduce various dimensions of the personality and teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to non Muslim Japanese. The target audience are Japanese non-Muslims and the language of the seminar is mainly Japanese.
This year the JPMF is conducting the 4th seminar in the series on October 10, 2011. The theme of the seminar is humanitarian teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).  The key note speaker for this year will be Dr Hany El Banna, Founder and President of “The Humanitarian forum UK”. Dr Hany El Banna is a well known personality and has founded many charity organizations including Islamic relief. Other speakers include Dr. Kamal Otsushi Okuda (Keio University Japan), Mori Mayami and Miss Ikemoto ( known Japanese relief workers).
