The event, dubbed as Annual Qira’at-ul Qur’an cCmpetition and sponsored by Otsuka Masjid administration and others, has been nearly 12 years in the making, according to the organizers, who first conceptualized the idea when building a mosque in Tokyo in 1999.

For twelve years Otsuka Masjid in Tokyo has organized the “Annual Quran Competition” by inviting young participants from among the Muslim community residing in and around Tokyo and other neighboring prefectures.

The purpose of the Competition is to build and strengthen the relationship between Tahfeezul Qur’an and Tajweed among the young Muslim children residing in Japan. Being a minority in the country, it is critical that the Muslim community strengthen its knowledge of the teachings of the Quran, the context behind Quranic verses and proper application of its teachings so that we can spread the true and peaceful message of Islam throughout Japan. The Holy Qur’an teaches universal values of respect for others, tolerance, and help for the needy. It provides a complete code of life to all its followers. Allah (SWT) says in Surah Ankaboot “And those who strive in our (cause) We will certainly guide them to our paths. For verily Allah is with those who do the right”.

I’d love to hear their recitations, were they uploaded anywhere?
