2nd International Symposium Held On Food Halalness

food-halalnessThe “Gurunavi” Endowed Chair in Future Food at Tokyo Institute Of Technology invited six experts from Brazil, New Zealand, the United States, France, Great Britain and Malaysia to give lectures on “Religious Norm and Food Business: a Global Perspective”.

The purpose of this symposium was to give Japanese audience a glimpse of food business related to religious norms from a global perspective. The lectures on the topics of Halal Poultry In South America, New Zealand Meat For Muslim Markets, current food certification based on religion, , Halal busines in the US & its certification process, eating behaviour and recognition among Muslim and Jewish consumers and a culture and consumption-based global perspective on halal offerings and developing global Halal standards for industry.

The lectures  delivered by various speakers enhanced the understanding about the Halal food business among the Japanese audience as they do not have a very clear picture of how the Muslims consume the way they do.  Speakers shed light on the topics of halal poultry, red meat and the current issues surrdouning the various halal certification procedures spread around the world.

The full-day event brought together over hundred policy makers, research fellows in the food industry practitioner of the food industry from all parts of Japan. and After the keynote speech by Dr. Mariko Arata of Tokyo Institute of Technology, 9 lectures were delivered by eight remarkable researchers from institutes in Japan and around the globe.

    Asalaam Aleikum I am Hamza from Uganda and i would like to get involved in the muslim society In Japan because I have only just spent 4 months here but I would like to get chance to interact with other muslim brothers and sisters. i would like to know when this program is scheduled.
