This evening while talking to a very energetic Japanese Muslim brother at Otsuka Masjid, Tokyo, I came to know about an amazing website called www.islamreligion.com. The website has tons of material on Islam in eight different languages including, of course, Japanese and English, apart from few others. But the most important feature I was impressed with, is a chat service where anybody can enter, ask or answer a question about Islam, or discuss any issues they may have about the religion, without any reservation.
My Japanese Muslim friend told me that he was able to convert around 10 people to Islam within the span of the last two months while chatting with people on this site. That is so wonderful. I could not believe it in the beginning. However, as you might rightly expect, I do not want to question his integrity about the claim he made.
When I further analyzed my situation, it was very obvious to me that I had to spend more and more time on the above mentioned website or elsewhere to explain Islam to interested people as well as to non-interested ones. We must spend most of our time while we are still alive in this world, giving Dawah to the needy as this is the best work you could do in your lifespan.
The ways to engage in dawah activities may be different for everyone involved in the work. However, the basic rules are, perhaps the same regardless of age, location, culture, religion etc.
I do not claim to bring you the most exhaustive list of the basic rules of dawah-giving, however, they may be some of the most important ones.
Dawah is like a high-level marketing activity. You can not market or sell a product or service unless you sincerely believe in the authenticity of the item or the service in question. The same goes for dawah work. First you must have a thorough understanding of what is the crux of the message you are trying to convey to potential converts. The second most important trait of a great Dawah work is that he or she must live the life of a true Muslim if they want others to believe in the religion of ours. Try to be a living embodiment of what you are trying to preach to others.
I invite you all to post your thoughts to our viewers on the above mentioned topic as it is directly related to our very own lives and the purpose we should have in this world for our existence.
