The JapaneseMuslims.com website was founded by Maqsood Ahmed, a veteran journalist in Japan in 2010. He is an experienced search engine marketer and the voice behind this Web site and many others.
Prior to starting his enthusiasm with all things Internet, and writing, he got his masters degrees in Economics from the International Islamic University, Islamabad, Pakistan and a second masters in International Relations from the International University of Japan apart while rubbing his shoulders briefly with his fellow classmates at the Johns Hopkins University in Washington D.C, University of Derby, England and the United Nations University, Tokyo.
He has been an active member of the Muslim community in Japan for the last two decades now, and has actually watched the teeny tiny community grow into a thriving
The past lives have found Maqsood toiling as a project manager, news-editor, writer, teacher, store manager, salesperson, waiter, telemarketer, and enthusiastic web developer. He currently resides in Tokyo, Japan, the most hi-tech city on the face of the earth with his wife and three wonderful kids.
Umm e Zakariya (Saman Khalid)
Born and raised in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Umm e Zakariya (Saman Khalid) received her Bsc in Social Sciences with Honors from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) in 2008 (Lahore, Pakistan). She began her pursuit of classical Islamic learning in 2005, studying Quran, Tafsir, Hadith, Fiqh, Usul al-Fiqh, and Arabic under traditional scholars, completing the Dars-e-Nizami course and receiving the Alimiyya degree in 2009. Umm e Zakariya has since then lived and worked in Lahore, teaching Tafsir, Hadith, Fiqh and Arabic grammar to university students and young professional women. She also completed her MPhil in Education from BNU (Beaconhouse National University, Lahore) in 2012. She then taught for two years at Zaynab Academy Karachi. Umm e Zakariya also delivers talks on purification of the heart and drawing closer to Allah (swt). She currently resides with her husband and son at OIST (Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology), Japan, where her husband, Dr. Abdul Majid, is a post doctorate fellow in the Department of Mathematics.
